Biography

Mrs. Wanda Genevieve Hale, 82, of Fort Madison and formerly of Burlington died at 6:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born August 13, 1929 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Earl and Lottie Schnedler McCarty. On November 20, 1947 she married Harvey Ross Hale in Burlington. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2003.
Mrs. Hale was a Burlington High School graduate. She was an administrator for St. Francis Hospital and Care Center for 27 years, retiring in 1995.
Mrs. Hale was of the protestant faith. She was a member of ALTRUSA and was active in a number of women's business organizations during her working years. She enjoyed fishing, crafts and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three sons, Steven Hale of Burlington, Michael Hale of Atlanta, GA and Kevin Hale of Galesburg, IL; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Linda Norton of Burlington and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Vera Goble and Betty Cumpton.
There will be no visitation or service. According to Mrs. Hale's wishes cremation has been accorded.
