Charlotte Switzer, 79, of Burlington died at 5:00 a.m. Monday, April 14,
2008, at Burlington Care Center.
Born
January 14, 1929 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond and
Effie Vannice Balzer. On June 24, 1950 she married Frank Paul Switzer
in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1989.
Mrs.
Switzer worked at Sylvania and also was the owner of Trade Winds Bar and
an antique store and was manager of the Corn Dog Factory in Westland
Mall.
She was
a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose, Elks and Eagles
Womens Auxiliaries. She enjoyed yard work, flower gardening, horseback
riding, and spending time and boating on the Mississippi River. She
loved going antiquing, collecting monkeys, and animals especially dogs
and cats.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Switzer of Burlington; two step
daughters, Carolee Feltch of Oxnard, California and Joyce Luker of
Rogers, Arkansas; one step son, Dennis Switzer of Nevada, Iowa; two
grandchildren Megan and Keeley Switzer; five step grandchildren; six
step great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Balzer of Rainier,
Washington; goddaughter, Kathy Wunderlich; and several nieces and
nephews.
Her
parents and husband, one sister Dorothy, and one brother Milton preceded
her in death.
Memorials
have been established for Great River Hospice and the Alzheimers
Association.
