         Lunning Chapel 
     -Celebration of Life: Friday, September 21st after 2:00 PM at his home 12036 Little Flint
        Road, West Burlington.
        The bonfire and service will be at 6:30 PM
        Reverend JudyAnn Morse will officiate
      -Private Graveside Inurnment: Aspen Grove Cemetery
         Memorials have been established First United Church of Christ and Great River
         Hospice.

           Galen LaVerne “Shep” Shepherd, 60, of West Burlington died Saturday, September 15, 2007, at his home after a long battle with cancer.

            Born September 21, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa he was the son of Ivan L. and Wanda Nadine Pebbles Shepherd.  On May 7, 1966 he married Linda Carpenter in Burlington, Iowa. 

            Shep was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School.  He was a member of First United Church of Christ and the Loyal Order of the Moose. 

            He was a truck driver for Churchill Trucking Company and retired from Yellow Trucking Company in 2002.  He enjoyed racing, sprint cars, fishing, reading, hunting, four wheeling and especially loved his grandchildren.  He was known as the Mayor of Drunken Holler.

            Survivors include, his wife Linda Shepherd of West Burlington; his mother, Wanda Nadine Shepherd of Burlington; one daughter, Laurie (Marty) Smith of Burlington, Iowa; two sons, Kevin (Martina) Shepherd of Oak Grove, Minnesota and Mark (Amy) Shepherd of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren, Chris, Robin, Andy, Logan, Megan, and Ellie; two sisters, Nelda Jackson of Augusta, Iowa and Noreda (Monty) Schnedler of Burlington, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

            His father, grandparents and one brother Robert preceded him in death.
