       -Family Visitation:  Monday, March 31st, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM
         in Lunning Chapel.
       -Memorial Service: Tuesday, April 1st, at 1:00 PM in Lunning Chapel
         Pastor Dean Graber officiating.
     -Inurnment: Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
        A memorial has been established.
        According to his wishes the body of Mr. Pohlpeter has been cremated

                       

             Raymond John Pohlpeter Jr., 76, of Burlington, died on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 7:30 a.m. in Great River Hospice House, West Burlington.

            Born on August 26, 1931 in Fort Madison, he was the son of Raymond J. Sr. and Myrtle Ann Miller Pohlpeter.  He married Marilyn Barnthouse on July 13, 1956 in Burlington.  She preceded him in death on January 7, 1994.

            Raymond was a United States Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean War.  He was a 1949 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He worked in production at Exide Co. retiring after 20 years in 1993.  He also worked with Reliable Bail Bonding and Process Serving.  He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

            Survivors include three daughters; Tomi Lynn (Henry) Watson of Wallburg, North Carolina, Kelly K. (Sam) Pohlpeter of Clinton, Iowa, and Amy A. (David Doonan) Johnson of Burlington; one granddaughter Melissa Johnson of West Burlington; three brothers; Richard Pohlpeter of Fort Madison, Rolland Pohlpeter of Des Moines, and Larry Pohlpeter of El Reno, Oklahoma; five sisters; Mary Lou Fairlie of Swisher, Iowa, Sylvia Pohlpeter, Carmen Pohlpeter, Connie Bunker and Peggy Pohlpeter all of Fort Madison; brother in law Earl Glassford of Fort Madison; sister in laws Anne Pohlpeter and Nellie Pohlpeter of Fort Madison; many loved nieces and nephews.

            His parents; his wife Marilyn; two brothers Paul and Royce Pohlpeter; and two sisters Betty Glassford and Shirley Black preceded him in death.
