Martin “Marty” Scott Payne, 37, of Burlington, Iowa and formerly of Chicago, died at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 11,2007, at his home.

            Born August 13, 1970 in Clayton, Missouri, he was the son of Lyman and June Baker.

            Mr. Payne was a 1989 graduate of West Burlington Arnold High School.  He was of the Unitarian faith.

He was an Army veteran achieving the rank of corporal and served from July 27, 1989 until August 13, 1997.  Mr. Payne formerly worked at Iron Mongers in Chicago and most recently was innkeeper at Arrow Head Motel.

            He enjoyed his time in the military, working and kids.

            Survivors include his parents, Lyman and June Baker of West Burlington; one step brother, Mark Allen Baker of West Burlington; and one step sister, Monika Deatsch of Tiffin, Iowa.

            His grandparents preceded him in death.
