Lorraine Grace Floyd, 78, of West Burlington died at 9:13 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Great River Medical Center’s – Klein Center.

            Born August 6, 1929 near Burlington, she was the daughter of Daniel and Grace Krieghauser Kuntz.  On June 3, 1951 she married Sidney Averl Floyd in West Burlington.

            Mrs. Floyd was a 1948 graduate of Burlington High School and received her teaching certificate from Iowa Wesleyan College.  She taught in a one room school house in Jackson Township.  Mrs. Floyd was a homemaker.

            She was of the Christian faith, was an avid reader and was particularly fond of cats.

            Survivors include her husband, Sidney Floyd of West Burlington; one son, Greg Alan Floyd of Burlington; one daughter, Gloria (David Burwell) Mathews of Beloit, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Carolyn Mathews; four step grandchildren, Benjamin, Tyler, Sam and Magdalyn of Beloit, Wisconsin; one sister, Frances Turner of Burlington and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Her parents and three sisters preceded her in death.

           In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
