Dorothy Emmiline Twyman Floyd, 99, of Burlington died at 3:40 p.m.
Friday, April 4, 2008, at Blair House in Burlington.
Born
October 15, 1908 in Oquawka, Illinois, she was the daughter of John and
Elizabeth Bollman Simpson. On December 25, 1930 she married Lloyd
Edward Twyman in Ashburn, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January
8, 1978. On June 5, 1992 she married Thomas J. Floyd in Burlington.
Mrs.
Floyd moved to Burlington in 1942 and worked as a licensed practical
nurse for Burlington Hospital and home companion work, retiring in the
early 1950s.
She
enjoyed camping, traveling and poetry. Some of her work has been
published.
Survivors include three sons, Melvin Twyman of Huntsville, Texas, Jerry
Twyman of Burlington, and Douglas Twyman of Burlington; 11
grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; five step
great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and
nephews; and one sister, Maxine Paulsmeyer of Rolla, Missouri.
Her
first husband, one grandson, parents and two brothers preceded her in
death.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
According to Mrs. Floyd’s wishes, her body has been cremated.
