       -Funeral Service: Saturday, April 5th, at 3:00 PM in Lunning Chapel
        The Reverend David Steinle will officiate.
     -Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, West Burlington, Iowa
        A memorial has been established.

             Clovie J. Davis, 79, of Burlington, died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Great River Medical Center.

            Born May 17, 1928 at Coal City, Iowa he was the son of Harvey G. and Iva M. Himes Davis.  On June 4, 1949 he married Dorothy Karhoff in Fort Madison.

            Mr. Davis was a gas meter repairman for Iowa Southern Utilities for 34 years.

            He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed camping, the outdoors, mushroom hunting, helping others, and teasing his grandchildren.

            Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Davis of Burlington; four sons, Michael Davis of Donnellson, Daniel (Lynn) Davis of Cedar Rapids, Jerry Davis of Quincy, Illinois and Steven (Sheryl) Davis of Hindsville Arkansas; 11 grandchildren, Adam, Andy, Jill, Justin, Ryan, Kimberly, Jaime, Rebecca, Steven, Owen, and Amanda; three great grandchildren, Brayden, Mikayla and Dade two brothers, Keith Davis of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts and Del Davis of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey; four sisters, Ruth (James) Heneghan of Chicago, Illinois, Carol Groundwater of Clearwater, Florida, Lois (Peter) Peyer of Syracuse, New York, and Donna Ramsey of Donnellson; and several nieces and nephews.

            His parents, one granddaughter Amy, and one sister Esther Carter preceded him in death.
