Mrs. Grace E. Brandt, 92, of Burlington, died at 12:45 a.m. on March 1, 2008 in the Great River Medical Center –Klein Unit.

  Born April 4, 1915 in Des Moines County she was the daughter of Frank M. and Mable C. Nichols Pforts.   On February 29, 1936 she married Charles H. Brandt in West Burlington.  He died in 1963. 

 Mrs. Brandt was a housekeeper and a homemaker.  She took pride in cleaning homes for others.  She was a member of the National Senior Citizens, the Golden Oldies and Hawkeye Natives. 

 Survivors include a daughter Marjorie A. Johnson of Burlington; a son James H. Brandt of Moses Lake, Washington; seven grandchildren, Steven Johnson of Center Point, Iowa, Cindy Gregory of Greenfield, Indiana, Lori Boyd of Cumming, Iowa, Suzanne Vandeweghe of Moses Lake, Washington, Jenny Trauffler of Washington State, Amy Miller of Spokane, Washington, and Judith Reed of Portland, Oregon; 10 great grandchildren and one step great grandchild; a brother Herbert Pforts of Yarmouth; a sister Ruth P. Fehse of Burleson, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Her parents; husband; a son Howard; a granddaughter Julie; 3 sisters and 2 brothers preceded her in death.
