     -Funeral Service: Saturday, September 29th at 2:00 PM in Lunning Chapel.
        The Reverend Dan Buck will officiate.
      -Interment: St. John's Cemetery, next to the Church, rural Burlington
        A memorial has been established for St. John's Church of Flint River Township.
         

             Joyce Jean Bennett, 78, of Burlington, Iowa died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.

            Born June 18, 1929 in Shelbyville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Latrelle and Neva Coe Smoot.  On January 1, 1947 she married Lee E. Bennett in Fort Madison, Iowa.

            Mrs. Bennett was a 1947 graduate of Denmark High School.  She was a homemaker.  Mrs. Bennett was a member of St. John’s Church of Flint River Township, rural Burlington and enjoyed reading, cooking, camping, traveling and especially her family.

            Survivors include her husband, Lee Bennett of Burlington; two daughters, Barbara (Ron) Galloway of Galesburg, Illinois and Sue (Chris) Schilb of Bettendorf, Iowa; two sons, Ron (Donna) Bennett of Sperry, Iowa and Wayne (Jean) Bennett of Papillion, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren, John Sorenson, Sarah and Sean Bennett, Jessica Schilb, Matthew, Elizabeth, Christina, Julia, Gabrielle and Annjolie Bennett, and Rachel Soder; six great grandchildren, Brenna, Bronson, Madison and Delaney Sorenson, Mackenzie and Hunter Bennett and Gabriel Bennett; twin sister, Loyce (Harvey) Jeffrey of Danville, Iowa; sisters, Evelyn Stotts of Tabor, Iowa, Carol (Donald) Honadel of Montrose, Iowa, Patty (Ronald) Mehaffy of Burlington and Cynthia (Chuck) Super of Fort Madison; one brother, L.R. (Clarice) Smoot of Moro, Oregon; sister-in-law, Beverly Smoot of Eagle River, Alaska; and brother-in-law, Albert Weber of Goleta, California.

            Her parents, one brother Daniel Smoot, one sister Mary Etta Weber and one brother-in-law Ralph Stotts preceded her in death.
