Mary Charlotte (McDonald) “Char” Beeman of West Burlington died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Danville Care Center.

            Born April 4, 1922 in Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Andrew and Matilda Orr Wilson.  On September 30, 1950 she married Delbert W. McDonald.  On July 27, 1985 she married Ellis B. Beeman in Monmouth, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on June 3, 2005.

            Mrs. Beeman attended Mediapolis Community School until her family moved to Enid Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1940.  She attended Minnesota Bible College from 1940-1941, then attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma and graduated in 1946.  She also did graduate study at Maryville College in St. Louis, Missouri, Southeastern University of Missouri and Western Illinois University at Macomb, Illinois.

            While in St. Louis, she was very active with the Girl Scouts.

            Mrs. Beeman was an elementary teacher in the Mediapolis School District for 13 years until she retired in June of 1988.

            She was an active member of the Christian Church wherever she lived, and the last 14 years in West Burlington Christian Church and she was especially active in the missions programs.  She was a member of Beth Dodge King’s Daughters and Des Moines County Retired Teachers Association.

            Survivors include her daughter Lisa Rivas and grandson Andrew Rivas.

            An infant son, infant daughter, her parents, sister Naomi Dotson and husband Ellis Beeman preceded her in death.
