Vera J. Barton, 83, of Macomb, Illinois and formerly of Burlington died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

            Born November 18, 1924 in LaHarpe, Illinois, she was the daughter of Joseph and Lola Lincoln Lefler.  On May 27, 1972 she married Walter Barton in Macomb.  He preceded her in death on July 3, 1992.

            Mrs. Barton was a LaHarpe High School graduate.  She worked as a machine operator at Sheaffer Pen Co. for 29 years.  She was of the Methodist faith.

            Survivors include three nieces, Sharon Konkler of Macomb, Sandra Ham of Vermont, Illinois and Linda (Keros) McHone Fowler of Macomb; two nephews, Larry (Roxie) Zimmerman of Augusta, Illinois and Jerry (Michelle) Zimmerman of Roseville, Illinois; and several great nieces and great nephews.

            Her husband, parents, one sister Lucille Zimmerman, two half brothers, and a great niece preceded her in death.
