Phyllis Jean Alter, 85, of North Liberty and formerly of Burlington
died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa
City.
Born
April 17, 1923 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Albert E. and Emma
A. Stoerzbach Parmeter. On December 25, 1941 she married Edward
Frederick Alter in Burlington. He preceded her in death on May 27,
2002.
Mrs.
Alter was a homemaker. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ
and was a member of the Zion Quilters.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Joel Kitch of
North Liberty; one granddaughter, Sheri Knutson-Claudin and her husband
Shawn Claudin of North Liberty; three great grandchildren, Britney
Knutson, Jax and Brooklyn Lily Knutson-Claudin; one sister, Ruth Hill of
Burlington; one sister-in-law, Jessie Parmeter of Burlington and several
nieces and nephews.
Her
husband, son James, parents, two brothers and two infant siblings
preceded her in death.
