Larry Turley

Larry is an Ambassador with Lunning Chapel.  Larry Turley was born and raised in Burlington Iowa, and has spent most of his adult life in Burlington. After attending Burlington Junior College he moved to Galesburg Illinois and worked for Sears Roebuck for nine years, and was then transferred back to Burlington where he worked as Merchandise Manager in the Burlington Sears Store for another ten years, until the downtown store closed. Soon after that he had the opportunity to work and then own a Menswear Specialty Store in Westland Mall until February 2005 when he retired. During that time Larry was honored as “Iowa Retailer Of the Year” and was very humbled by that honor.

He has been active in the “Community of Christ” church, serving as an Elder in the Church.  He has also served on the Chamber of Commerce Board twice and was the last Chamber President of the West Burlington Chamber of Commerce before they merged with the Burlington Chamber. He is an active member of the Burlington Kiwanis Club and served as president in 1994 and 1995. He helps with the Burlington Steamboat Days, and has served on the board for over 12 years. It was Larry’s pleasure to serve on the “Sight of Music” board, which was instrumental in bringing the Drum and Bugle Corps into Burlington for exhibition and as a fund raiser for the art and music departments for Burlington area schools. He also helped the Burlington United Way, serving on the allocations committee for over ten years.

He is married to Linda Kemp Turley, the father of four children, two boys and two girls, who have all moved south and have no desire to return to the northern winters.

Larry says,  “I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an Ambassador at Lunnings and keep contact with former customers and friends in the Burlington area.”
