Chip Readinger

Owner, Funeral Director

Chip Readinger is the son of Dr. Harry and Marian Readinger. He was raised in New London, and was a 1978 graduate of New London High School. He graduated from Southeastern Community College in 1981 with AAS degree, he then continued on to Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where he gained his Bachelor’s degree in Technical Careers, majoring in Mortuary Science. He joined the Lunning Chapel family on June 1, 1983, when he began his apprenticeship working with Al Lunning. In September of 2007, Chip became sole owner of Lunning Chapel. Chip is a licensed funeral director in both Illinois and Iowa. He is a member of the Illinois and Iowa Funeral Directors Associations, the National Funeral Directors Association, Burlington Kiwanis Club, Burlington Moose Lodge #579 and Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce. Chip and his wife Dana have one son, Ryan. He enjoys attending family gatherings, listening to classical music, and on a whim, you may catch him singing his favorite tunes.

Rochelle Swanner

Funeral Director

Rochelle Swanner is the daughter of Richard and Barbara Rosenbury. Born and raised in Burlington, she graduated from Burlington High School in 1992. She received her Associates in Applied Science degree from Carl Sandburg College in 2001, majoring in Mortuary Science. After college, she moved to Quincy, Illinois and became a licensed funeral director for Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. She moved back to her hometown in May of 2006, and became part of the Lunning Chapel family in June. Rochelle is a licensed funeral director in both Illinois and Iowa, she is an Iowa licensed insurance agent, she is a member of the Iowa and Illinois Funeral Director’s Associations, the National Funeral Director Association, Tri-State Funeral Directors, and the Burlington Noon Lions Club. She is the proud mother of two beautiful children, Kourtney and Kameron. Along with her husband Chris they all enjoy being bonified “River Rats”, spending every spare minute they have enjoying the river, outdoor activities, and attending the school functions of their children. She is a proud Iowa Hawkeye football fan, and enjoys attending or watching the games with her family.

Don Runyon

Funeral Director

Donald Runyon was born in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Howard “Porky” and Shirley Runyon and Linda Walker, all of West Burlington. Don served his country for 15 years in the Air Force as an active duty and Air National Guard soldier. Don made a mid life decision to return to school and graduated from Southeastern Community College in 1993 and from Southern Illinois University in 1994. He became an Iowa Licensed Funeral Director in 1995 and has completed extensive additional education in reconstructive surgery. Don had been with Lunning Chapel in Burlington, Iowa from 1991 to 2006. Don then continued his career in Kansas and Virginia in the funeral industry. He returned home to Burlington to continue his funeral service career with Lunning Chapel in April of 2012. Don married Delena Moore in 1982 and they have two children, Aaron and Ryan. Both graduated from Burlington High School and both live locally. Don is a member of several Burlington Organizations such as the Moose, Eagles Aerie #150, and Monticello Eagles Aerie #4466. Don enjoys dirt late model racing, hunting, bowling and traveling Iowa to see local attractions.

David Mixon

Prearrangement Counselor

David W. Mixon was born in Peoria, Illinois.  He graduated from Metamora High School and attended Indiana Central College and Garrett Evangelical Seminary.  In 1975 he was ordained Elder in the Central Illinois Comference of the United Methodist Church.  He served churches throughout central Illinois.  In 1983 he did advanced training in Clinical Pastoral Education at Indiana University Hospitals.  He then served as chaplain in Oklahoma City, OK, Killeen, TX and was chaplain and subsequent Director of Pastoral Care at Great River Medical Center.  During this time he was pastor at Spring Grove Methodist Church.  He then worked with Burlington Trailways before joining the Lunning Chapel staff in 2008.  In 2009 the National Funeral Directors Association confirmed him as a Certified Preplanning Counselor.  David is married to Rhonda and they live in the New London community.  David has four children and two grandsons.  He is an avid Cubs fan and follows New London sports.  He enjoys watching most sports, working in the yard, grilling out, traveling, movies and fishing.

Owner of Turley’s Menswear in Westland Mall for 18 years

Presently reside in Burlington with my wife Linda and am active in many activities in and around this area

If you can’t find me at Lunnings or the golf club, or my office in the F and M Bank building or at a basketball game I must be out of town

Rick Raleigh

Funeral Assistant/Ambassador

Rick Raleigh was born in Burlington and moved to West Burlington in 1956.  He is a graduate of West Burlington High School and attended Blackhawk Junior College.  He served as sergeant in the United States Army.  Rick worked as a foreman at I.A.A.P and from there went to work for General Electric where he retired after 33 years.  Rick is a retired auctioneer and coach for the West Burlington school system for almost 30 years.  He is currently serving his third term on the West Burlington City Council.  Rick and his wife Sheryle have celebrated 44 years of marriage.  They have two daughters, Shayna Woods and Carrie Applegate and 8 grandchildren.  He has been part of the Lunning Chapel staff since 2009.

Dan Wiedemeier

Funeral Assistant/Ambassador

Dan Wiedemeier was born and raised in Burlington.  He is a graduate of Burlington High School and the University of Iowa with a degree in Business Administration.  His professional career includes almost 30 years with the former Bell System and the AT&T company.  He retired as Vice President of Federal Systems in Washington, D.C. and returned to Burlington.  He also worked for F&M Bank & Trust for almost 10 years as Vice President.  His civic activities include serving as Commissioner and Chair of the Iowa Department of Transportation for 8 years.  He is currently Vice Chair of Great River Health Systems Board of Directors and serves on the Southeast Iowa Airport Authority Board.  He is married to Marcia and they have three children and three grandchildren.  Dan is a private pilot and enjoys golf, fishing, reading, and being involved with his church.  Dan has been part of the Lunning Chapel staff since 2005.

Scott Swanner

Funeral Director Assistant

Scott Swanner is the son of Steve and Margie Swanner. He was born and raised in Burlington and graduated from Burlington Notre Dame High School in 2010. Currently enrolled at Carl Sandburg College, Scott is working on his degree in Mortuary Science. Scott has been a part of the Lunning Chapel family since 2009 and enjoys assisting our families in any way possible.

Scott has been involved in scouting for many years earning the highest rank attainable, Eagle Scout. In addition to scouting, Scott is also a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the local Moose Lodge. When he has free time Scott enjoys any time spent outdoors, reading and being out on the river with his family and friends.

Richard Rosenbury

Funeral Assistant/Ambassador

Richard Rosenbury is the son of Leroy “Rosy” and Mary Rosenbury. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1966. He joined the Air Force right after high school, serving in the Vietnam War. He is the father of three children, Cristina, Rochelle, and Bradley, and the PROUD G-PA to  Kayla, Kevin, Marissa, Kourtney, Kameron, Lilly and Raven. Richard is a member of SS John & Paul Catholic Church and is active with the R.C.I.A program. He is an avid fisherman, loves playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. Richard joined the Lunning Chapel staff in 2007 after the death of his childhood sweetheart and wife of 40 years, Barbara.
